Gadget Guru - Exoskeletons, Bummelsonntag, Interfinity Festival
When he was a child, Ian «The Gadget Guru» Ellery always wanted to be Iron Man. He joined us on this week's show to talk about one piece of technology that can make that dream come true: Powered exoskeletons offer a mechanical boost for hiking. Perhaps one of them can power your next trip to the Alps. Listen to the segment here.
We’re getting ready for time travel this week. On Sunday, 30 March, the clocks spring forward one hour. The days will get longer, the sunset will come later, the temperature will rise, and hundreds of Basel residents will dust off their Wickelfish and eye the Rhine in anticipation of the swimming season.
But before we dive in (literally or figuratively), there’s plenty about early spring to enjoy. The Interfinity Festival is underway with a mix of high-caliber international and local artists in innovative and genre-crossing concerts. Bummelsonntag on Sunday is your chance to catch some Fasnacht music. Cliques will be all around the city serenading the streets with the sounds of spring.
If a few almost-April showers come our way, you can take shelter in the Basel Cartoon Museum, which is hosting the first retrospective of work by Thomas Ott, one of Switzerland’s most world-renowned comics artists. And make sure to stop by a library this weekend. It’s BiblioWeekend, a time to highlight the important role of these institutions in our lives.
Our music theme was all about new songs released in recents weeks. We played:
